Taking the first step

I know reaching out can feel daunting. You might be worried about saying the wrong thing, or feeling judged, or not explaining yourself well. Let me reassure you: there’s no wrong way to start this conversation.

Don’t worry about having your thoughts perfectly organized. Just tell me a bit about what’s going on, and we’ll take it from there.

Then we can arrange a free 20-minute phone chat

This gives us both a chance to see if we’re a good fit. I’ll explain how I work, answer any questions, and you can tell me what’s brought you to counselling. There’s absolutely no pressure to commit—sometimes just getting through that first conversation is a big achievement.

Book your first session (if it feels right)

We’ll find a time that works for you. My usual hours are 9am-7pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend availability.

Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes depending on what you need. We can meet face-to-face in Northwich, online via video, by phone, or even outdoors.

Your first session

We’ll go through a simple consent form together and talk about confidentiality. Then we’ll focus on whatever’s most pressing for you. There’s no set agenda—we follow what matters most to you.

Practical details

Payment: Cash, bank transfer, or card on the day of your session. Payment is due at the end of each appointment.

Cancellations: Life happens. Just give me 48 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule and there’s no charge.

Confidentiality: Everything you say remains confidential, except in very rare situations (which I will explain at the introductory call).

Still nervous about calling?
Email me instead. Sometimes writing feels easier than speaking, and that’s absolutely fine. I’ll respond within 24 hours (usually much sooner).
