Counselling Services
There are lots of ways to get therapy at Octopus. Your first choice is whether to book private sessions or counselling in a group.
For private, face to face, counselling I offer one-to-one sessions in Northwich, or “Counselling where you need it”, which could be at your office, home, or wherever you are, and Ecotherapy – which is outdoors and somewhere that suits you – from sitting in the garden to walking on the Sandstone Trail or in Delamere Forest, for example.
If face to face counselling isn’t your choice, you might prefer the convenience of video counselling, using Zoom, Facetime, or WhatsApp, or perhaps like the sound of phone counselling; and finally, text and email counselling, using phone messaging, WhatsApp, or Email allows you to consider what you say carefully, and revise it until you are happy to send.
All these approaches have their own strengths, and research says that they can all be equally effective. Just pick the approach that appeals to you – and if it turns out that you don’t like it after you try it we can try one of the others. The best way is the one that works for you.
Group work allows you to hear the experiences of others and reflect on your own feelings without having the sense that the focus is on you. It’s quite common for new members of the group to take one or more sessions before they feel that they want to share their feelings or experiences – and there is no pressure to say, or do, anything unless or until you are ready. Some people attend and never feel the need to speak. Everyone is free to do what suits their needs best.
The best part about group work is how supportive and friendly people are – and how helpful this group support can be when you are at a low point in your life.
Group sessions are also a much more affordable option than one-to-one sessions, which can be a great way to relieve emotional stress and strain without adding to your difficulties with more financial pressures.
